ENG vs AUS Match Prediction: Arch rivals Australia (AUS) and England (ENG) are set to lock horns against each other in the Group B game of the 2024 T20 World Cup. The match will take place at the Kensington Oval stadium of Barbados and it will commence at 10:30pm IST.

England, the winners of the previous edition of the T20 World Cup in 2022 will be looking to win their second consecutive trophy under the leadership of Jos Buttler. The Defending Champions didn’t have an ideal start to their T20 World Cup campaign as their opening encounter against Scotland got washed out due to rain and both the teams shared 1-1 points each. They will be looking to defeat their Ashes rivals in the upcoming game and make the position at the top of Group B their own.

The Aussies on the other hand would be looking to win their second T20 World Cup title. Their first and only triumph came way back in 2021. It’s worth noting that the Kangaroos lifted the 2023 ODI World Cup and 2023 World Test Championship titles last year and the Mitch Marsh led team would be keen on adding yet another T20 World Cup trophy to their trophy cabinet.

Ahead of this exciting encounter, let’s take a look at the team which is anticipated to finish out on top.

AUS vs ENG: Analysis of both the teams

Australia (AUS)

Batting All – Rounder Mitchell Marsh is handling the leadership duties of the 2021 winners in the 2024 T20 World Cup and is captaining the team for the first time in an ICC event. The Aussies secured an easy 39 runs win against Oman in their previous game and they will be looking to carry forward their winning momentum against England in the upcoming game. Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell and Josh Hazlewood will be the ones to watch out for.

England (ENG)

Wicketkeeper Batsman Jos Buttler is the current white ball skipper of England and he is leading the team in the 2024 T20 World Cup as well. The 2022 champions didn’t have an ideal start as their first game against Scotland got abandoned due to rain. The Englishmen would be looking to secure their first win of the tournament and a win against Australia will be the icing on the cake for them.

Head to Head Record- A total of 23 T20 International matches have taken place between Australia and England. Out of these 23 games, 11 have been won by England while the Aussies have finished victorious on 10 occasions. Two games have ended without any result.

Pitch Report – The surface of the Kensington Oval Stadium of Barbados is considered as a low scoring one where bowlers enjoy having a go against the batters. The average first and second innings score at this ground are 136 and 123 runs.

A total of 44 T20 International matches have been played at this stadium and out of those 44 matches, 28 games have been won by the team who had chosen to bat first. The chasing teams have managed to win just 13 encounters at this venue. In short, the team which bats first will have the advantage.

The surface is on the slower side and offers a decent amount of assistance to the spinners. In the first 2024 T20 World Cup game at this ground, Namibia and Oman managed to score just 109 combined runs.

Team News –  As of now, no injury news has broken out from any team’s camp. England’s opening match got washed out due to rain and luckily no player suffered any kind of an injury in the game.

The Aussies don’t have any injury issues either and all players from both the teams will be available for selection.

Regarded as one of the finest bowlers in Modern Day Cricket, Mitchell Starc performed really well with the ball in the playoffs of the recently concluded IPL 2024 and picked up two wickets against Oman as well.
