ENG vs. PAK: After the third day of English dominance, Joe Root and Harry Brook kept the scoreboard ticking with an absolute gem of an inning from both batters. Root came into bat on Day 2 and made an irk in the England scoreboard, with Crawley and Root contributing immensely to the scores.

Root on Day 2 broke the first record, which was of 5000+ WTC runs, as he became the first-ever batter to have scored 5000 runs in the red ball competition, which started in 2019.

On the third day, when the two batters came into bat after Crawley got out, Ben Duckett, who came into bat in the new role of a middle-order batter, went on to take the lead ahead with Root, until Duckett fell as England’s final wicket for a well-made 86 runs.

Root since then went on to bat alongside Harry Brook for over 300+ runs, as the two batters have been unstoppable since then. Joe Root scored 71* until lunch on Day 3, which made him the highest run-getter for England, overtaking Alastair Cook as England’s highest-ever run-getter in red-ball cricket.

Post-lunch, Joe Root scored his 35th hundred, as he went past the likes of greats like Mahela Jayawardena and others to emerge as one of the highest hundred-getters. Root pre-lunch, with 12473 runs, went past Cook, the former skipper had 12472 runs.

Alongside Root, Harry Brook went on to secure a big deal in Pakistan as he made a record for scoring 4 continuous innings in 4 consecutive red-ball matches in the nation of Pakistan. Brook took on his terrific form, as he has often been said to be the future of English cricket, with his unstoppable feat both in Test as well as ODI cricket, after his show against Sri Lanka and later Australia last month.

Day 4 began, with Joe Root scoring a double hundred in red-ball cricket for the 6th time as he broke another record and went past the former skipper Alastair Cook for having scored the most double hundreds for England in the format.

On the other hand, confident Harry Brook went on to score his maiden double-hundred when he set the track ablaze at Multan. Brook celebrated jovially after his double hundred, as this would be the epitome of an inning in the history of the game.

England at Lunch is now 658/3, as they lead over the hosts by a record 102 runs, despite their mammoth total. England batter Joe Root, now standing firm at 259 runs, is only 41 runs away from being the first English batter to score an overseas triple hundred, also in an Asian country.

Since the match result doesn’t seem to be nearing anything else than a tie, England might not look to declare the innings if both batters look to approach their respective triple-centuries, respectively, for both Brook and Root.
