Trusted ??British daily newspaper company ?The Guardian? has reported that English cricketer Eoin Morgan who is currently the T20I and ODI captain of the English National Team is set to announce his retirement from International Cricket soon over his lack of form in both the formats.
Despite having a poor patch in the Indian Premier League for quite some time now, Eoin Morgan always performed at bigger stages when it came to the English National team. However, the skipper has been unable to do so in recent times and the 3-match ODI series between England and Netherlands that concluded just 5 days ago on 22nd June, was seemingly the final nail to his coffin.
Eoin Morgan led England in the first two matches of the series and departed for two consecutive ducks in both matches. He was ruled out of the third match due to a supposed ?groin injury? but netizens were surprised that despite that he was seen playing in a corporate match on the same day. Although Morgan skipped a number of charity matches for the next few days, the rumours had started spreading and now trusted sources claim that he might actually consider hanging up his gloves.
Before the commencement of the Netherlands series, Eoin Morgan had suggested that his growing age is having a dawning effect on his performance. ?If I don?t think I am good enough or I don?t feel I am contributing to the team, then I will finish,? he had said in an interview. Well the point was proven very well on the field.
The England skipper needs to take his decision quickly as there is not much time left for the 2022 T20 World Cup and the sooner England gets a new captain, the better so that the next captain can build proper chemistry with the team which is immensely important to win big competitions like te T20 World Cup. It is being said that Jos Buttler is the forerunner to be made the next captain of England in T20I and ODI.
Irrespective of what Eoin Morgan decides to do, it must be mentioned that he is already an English Cricketing legend without an iota of doubt. He brought about a transformation in the England cricket team and it was he who finally realised the dreams of so many English fans to win the World Cup.?
Eoin Morgan International Career
Eoin Morgan switched his allegiance from Ireland to England in 2009 and he started his career in the English National Team as a dynamic left-handed batsman who could hit shots all around the field. He slowly transformed himself into a much more responsible batsman and that is what paved his way to captaincy. There is no doubt in the fact that Eoin Morgan will be remembered as the greatest English captain ever.?
