The home team is already grappling with a string of injuries to their pacers. Already Jofra Archer, Stuart Broad and Chris Woakes are ruled out of the Test series due to their respective injury concerns and another injury to Wood would be a serious concern for the team.

It is noteworthy that all-rounder Ben Stokes is also on a break and has left no indications about his return. Moreover, England head coach Chris Silverwood has stated that the management will not force the all-rounder to cut short his break and continue with the test team.

"The medics are working on him (Wood), we'll find out more in the next couple of days," England coach Chris Silverwood said Tuesday.

"We will make a decision, along with him and our medics, closer to the time. But if he's not right, he's not right. I certainly won't push him into playing if he tells me he's not right. I will look after him."

Wood while fielding on day four of the second test match hurt his right shoulder following which the pacer was in extreme pain. The injury was triggered and aggravated when he resumed bowling on the fifth day. All these development makes England pacer Mark Wood doubtful for the upcoming test matches.

The third test match between India and England will begin on 25th August at Headingley Leeds. It is important to note that England has not revealed its team for the upcoming test matches. The team announced earlier was for only the first two test matches.
