English pacer James Anderson set to miss 1st Ashes test match in Brisbane.
The Ashes 2021-22: England has dealt a major blow ahead of the start of Men?s Ashes 2021-22 as paceman James Anderson is all set to miss the opening Ashes 2021-22 test match at Brisbane?s Gaba due to a minor calf problem.
The development has dented England?s chances of winning the Ashes as they are already short of another sensational paceman Jofra Archer, who is not available for the test series due to his recurring elbow injury.
Anderson is apparently the world?s best test speedster with a massive 632 scalps under his belt. His absence would be a concern for the visitors as The Ashes 2021-22 kickstarts on Wednesday, 8th December in Brisbane?s Gaba.
However, the England and Wales Cricket Board hasn't provided any updates on the pacers progress, nor on the replacement for the opening test.
Joe Root and management will have to pick four bowlers from a lot of Ollie Robinson, Chris Woakes, Jack Leach, Stuart Broad and Mark Wood alongside all-rounder Ben Stokes, who is making a comeback in international cricket after months break.
Anderson did his drills on Monday for about an hour in the nets before he was withdrawn from his roles to prevent further injuries.
The development came soon after Australia announced their starting playing11 while English skipper Joe Root refrained from revealing the actual playing11 on Monday.

"I'm not into mind games, I'm just not in a position right now to name my team," Root told journalists.
"Fair play that they've announced their eleven. Doesn't really concern me or change anything from our perspective. We'll conduct our business how we want to and let you know when we're ready,? he added.
