ICC World Cup 2023: England's former World Cup-winning captain, Eoin Morgan has finally given his verdict on who will be the favourites to win the World Cup 2023 among the ten participating teams. While speaking in the show 'Backstage with Boria,' Morgan made his bold prediction for the impending world event, which starts on October 5 in Ahmedabad.

It was under Eoin Morgan's leadership that England managed to seal the deal for themselves during the 2019 World Cup. The Irish-born cricketer led England to their maiden ODI title win in the previous World Cup edition after defeating New Zealand in a dramatic final at Lord's.

Eoin Morgan went with the theory that the host nations are the favourites to win a World Cup title as they are more accustomed to the conditions and the home support brings the best out of them.

He put the reigning champions, England, as only second to the Indian team in the upcoming World Cup 2023. He reckons team India would end its ICC title drought in the forthcoming event.

?England are a very good team. I will rate them second favourites after India but only just. India on home soil is the favourite and are a very good team," predicted Eoin Morgan.

That?s been the case for all of the last few World Cups. India in 2011, Australia in 2015, England in 2019 and India again in 2023. But Jos Butler and his team have some fantastic batsmen and bowlers and their talent will make a big difference come the business end of the tournament.?

INDIA vs AUSTRALIA 2023

The cricketer-turned-expert picked Australia and Pakistan along with India and England as his top four teams for the ICC World Cup 2023.

"If you ask me to pick my best four, I will add Australia and Pakistan to the mix. With the matches spread across all parts of the country, it will be a real Test and these four teams have the maximum depth and versatility,? Morgan added.

The World Cup 2023 matches will be held across 10 venues in India, which will provide a number of conditions. It would be a real test for every visiting side to acclimatise to the conditions and play out the best cricket possible.
