The FIFA World Cup is a tournament that has a legacy. It is a tournament that has seen many legends and many legendary teams. The FIFA World Cup has been growing over the years. The predicted global audience of this tournament is expected to be 3.8 billion, which happens to be half of the world?s population. So, which are the countries that are most successful at the FIFA World Cup? Here is a look:
Brazil's Football Team has won the FIFA World Cup 5 times:
The Brazilians and their love for football are understandable as this is the sport that they are the most successful in. The Brazil national team has won this prestigious trophy 5 times. They won it in 2002, 1994, 1970, 1962, and 1958. This team has seen legendary players like Pele, Ronaldo Nazario, and Neymar Jr. The heartbreak of the 2014 World Cup left the world shell-shocked. Post that world cup, this team has become an unstoppable force. They will enter the tournament in Qatar as firm favorites if they play to their potential.
Germany has won the FIFA World Cup 4 Times:
Germany has won the cup 4 times. They won it in 2014, 1990, 1974, and 1954. The German team was an unstoppable force in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The only team that could stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them was Argentina but the Germans beat them in the finals too. This team has also seen many legends like Miroslav Klose, Gerd Muller, Phillip Lahm, and many more. Miroslav holds the record for the most goals scored in FIFA World Cup history.
Italy has won the FIFA World Cup 4 Times:
Italy has won the cup 4 times. The most infamous win has to be the 2006 win when Zidane was ruled out after he headbutt Marco Materazzi in the chest. Italy, post that world cup, has had its fair share of failure. They haven?t been a part of the FIFA World Cups since 2018. They missed out in 2018 and missed out in 2022 too. The only silver lining of this dark cloud is that they have a really good team that helped them win the Euros in 2020. They won the cup in 2006, 1982, 1938, and 1934.
Argentina (2 times):
The Argentinian players have also seen their team win the tournament twice. Once it was in the presence of their beloved legend Maradona. That victory was very sweet for the men in blue. Post that the team has had its fair share of close chances. They made it to the final in 2014 where Lionel Messi even won the golden ball. But they conceded in the dying minutes of extra time. Mario Gotze was the villain of their story. But this time around, this team enters the tournament in Qatar as a favorite. They won in 1986 and 1978.
France /Uruguay (2 Times):
France and Uruguay have won the title 2 times too. France is the defending champions in Qatar and has the immense squad depth to make a strong title defense. France has won the tournament once in 2018 and once in 1998. Uruguay on the other hand won the tournament in 1930 and 1950.
