The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) appointed former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir as India's head coach, after Rahul Dravid. Gambhir has come up with a number of new things for the Indian cricket team. Suryakumar Yadav was appointed the T20I captain, while Shubman Gill got the responsibility of vice captain in ODIs and T20Is.

Now it looks like India's Gautam Gambhir has brought some of his former KKR coaches to the Indian cricket team. As per the report from Cricbuzz, the BCCI are set to appoint former Indian cricketer Abhishek Nayar and former Netherlands' all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate as assistant coaches for the team. Meanwhile, T. Dilip is expected to retain his place as a fielding coach as well.

According to Cricbuzz, both Ryan ten Doeschate and Abhishek Nayar will be joining Team India for the coming Sri Lanka tour, whcih will be played between July 27 and August 8. India will play three ODIs and three T20is on this tour, and it will be the first series for Gautam Gambhir as head coach.

These two are currently part of the Kolkata Knight Riders, and Gautam Gambhir was the mentor for the team in the IPL 2024. That's where Gambhir's inclusion as head coach is one of the reasons for the BCCI selecting them for assistant coaches' roles. Meanwhile, T. Dilip, who was with Dravid, will retain his position.

However, now only the spot of bowling coach is vacant. Morne Morkel, who worked with Gautam Gambhir during his stint with the Lucknow Super Giants, is the front-runner for this position. If everything goes well, the former South African pacer is likely to join the team very soon.
