Gujarat vs UP WPL 2025: In the Tata Women's Premier League match played on Monday, Gujarat Giants defeated UP Warriors by 81 runs. While chasing 187, UP lost 6 wickets for just 48 runs. Beth Mooney and Deandra Dottin played key roles in helping their team secure the win

In the 15th match of the Tata Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025, the Gujarat Giants registered a huge 81-run win over UP Warriorz. Batting first, Gujarat had scored a mammoth score of 186 runs as opening batter Beth Mooney played an unbeaten innings of 96 runs. In response, UP had a very bad start, losing 6 wickets for just 48 runs. Deandra Dottin dismissed two batsmen in the very first over. The Deepti Sharma-led side could not recover from the early wickets and lost the match by 81 runs. After this win, Gujarat Giants have moved from fifth to second place in the points table, while UP has slipped down. 

West Indies player Deandra Dottin, playing for Gujarat, sent Kiran Navgire (0 runs) and Georgia Voll (0 runs) to the pavilion in the very first over. She clean bowled Georgia to claim her wicket. After this, there was a flurry of wickets. Chinelle Henry, playing in the lower order, scored more runs than the top batsmen. She scored 28 runs in 14 balls with the help of 3 fours and 2 sixes. 

UP Warriors' top order got destroyed

After Dottin dismissed two UP batters in the first over, spinner Kashvee Gautam dismissed Vrinda Dinesh in the fourth over on a score of 1. After this, captain Deepti Sharma was expected to handle the innings, but she too was caught out on Meghna Singh's ball after scoring 6 runs. Following her dismissal, Shweta Sherawat perished after scoring 5 runs.

Beth Mooney missed a century, played a quick innings of 96 runs

Earlier, Gujarat Giants, who came to bat first after losing the toss, did not have a good start. Dayalan Hemalatha was sent back for an early shower after scoring just 2 runs as Chinelle Henry got the better of her. After this, there was a brilliant partnership of 101 runs between Beth Mooney and Harleen Deol. This partnership was broken by off spinner Sophie Ecclestone in the 13th over as she clean bowled Harleen. The 26-year-old played an important innings of 45 runs with the help of 6 fours in 32 balls. 

Opener Beth Mooney played a blistering innings of 96 runs, although she fell just 4 runs short of her century. Actually she didn't get the opportunity to face a lot of balls in the death overs. Mooney scored an unbeaten 96 runs in 59 balls with the help of 17 fours. This is the highest individual score of this season in WPL. Sophie Ecclestone took the highest number of wickets (2) for the  UP Warriors while the likes of Chinelle Henry, Deepti Sharma and Kranti Gaud took 1-1 wickets.
