Hip Injury rules out KKR pacer Pat Cummins for the rest of the IPL 2022: An unfortunate right hip injury has ruled out Kolkata Knight Riders? (KKR) Aussie recruit Pat Cummins for the remainder of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The development was confirmed by KKR as well as by cricket.com.au on Friday.
Cricket.com.au, earlier, updated that their test skipper Pat Cummins will be returning to Sydney, leaving his IPL 2022 stint following a slight hip injury. The recovery period of the injury is such that Cummins won?t be able to take part in any of KKR?s remaining matches.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bagged the services of Pat Cummins for INR 7.25 Crores during the recent player auctions.
Notably, Cummins has already left for Sydney and will undergo rehab to recover on time for Australia?s tour to Sri Lanka, starting June 7. Cummins has been rested for the T20I series against Sri Lanka which gives the pacer ample time to return to his 100 per cent fitness.
"Pat Cummins has been ruled out of the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League with a mild hip injury and has returned to Australia for two weeks of rest and rehabilitation," stated the official release.

"I had an amazing time in India, and I would like to thank KKR for taking care of my family and me. I wish all the team members the best of luck for the remainder of the tournament. I will be watching the games and be cheering on,? said Pat Cummins before leaving KKR?s bio-bubble.
As KKR has just two league stage games remaining for the season, they have opted against naming a replacement for Cummins.
Kolkata will play their penultimate league stage match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 14th following which they will lock horns against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on 18th May.
Shreyas Iyer and Co are currently placed seventh in the points table and have slight chances to make it to the playoffs. If KKR manages to win the remaining matches, then they can move up the points table and pose for a playoff spot, however, a loss from here on will book their exit ticket from the Tata IPL 2022.
