How to Holding the Bat and Standing Properly in cricket
By ICS Editor March 1, 2023 6:06 AM UTC
In cricket, good batting technique requires proper bat holding and standing. The correct grip on the bat is with both hands, close together and parallel to each other. The top hand provides control, and the bottom hand provides power. Feet should be shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, and weight distributed evenly across both feet. The head and eyes should be level, and the body should be balanced. The non-striking hand should be placed on the handle just above the bottom hand. Proper stance and grip can help a batsman to play different types of shots with precision and control.
Holding the Bat:
- Hold the bat with both hands, ensuring that the dominant hand is at the bottom of the grip.
- The grip should be firm but not too tight, as this can restrict your movement.
- Place your top hand above your bottom hand, with your fingers resting comfortably around the handle.
- Keep your hands close together, ensuring that there is no gap between them.
- Keep your thumbs resting lightly on the handle, and ensure that they are not wrapped around the bat.
Standing Properly:
- Stand facing the bowler with your feet shoulder-width apart.
- Keep your weight evenly distributed on both feet.
- Bend your knees slightly, and keep your weight on the balls of your feet.
- Keep your head level and your eyes on the ball.
- Keep your shoulders relaxed, and ensure that your arms are close to your body.
- Avoid leaning back or forward, as this can affect your balance and make it difficult to play shots.
