ICC Champions Trophy 2025: UAE or Colombo? India venue finalised for CT
By ICS News Desk Dec 24, 2024 3:04 AM IST
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is all set to take place in February-March next year, and the tournament will be played in a Hybrid model. The two-nation formula was recently accepted by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after the consideration with BCCI and the ICC
The ICC, however, announced that they will be announcing the schedule of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 after some time. This was because the venue for the India games wasn't decided as PCB and ICC was confused over two venues in UAE as well as the Colombo.
But, as per the reports in RevSportz and ESPNCricinfo, it is learned that ICC and PCB have decided the venue for the India games. The Rohit Sharma-led side will be playing all their matches in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
"The PCB has picked the UAE as a neutral venue for the Champions Trophy," PCB spokesperson Amir Mir said.
The reports also claimed that one semi-final will be played in UAE and if India reaches the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, then the game will be played in UAE or else will be played in Pakistan. The reports also have released the schedule of the tournament.
As per the schedule of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the tournament will begin on 19th March, with Pakistan playing the opening match. The final of the event will be taking place on 9th March and will also be having a Reserve day.
India has been placed in Group A along with Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand, while Afghanistan, Australia, England and South Africa have been placed in Group B of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
