ICC T20 World Cup 2022: 5 Players Who Can Make an Impression at the ICC T20 World Cup.?
By Nikhil Patil October 7, 2022 6:57 PM UTC
The ICC T20 World Cup 2022 is around the corner. Many players are missing this tournament due to some injuries or niggles. The cricket community is awaiting this great tournament since the last year. The fact that a few greats of the game will miss this tournament is not easily digestible. We have Jonny Bairstow who misses out, Jasprit Bumrah who is likely ruled out, and Shaheen Afridi is not 100% fit too. So, who is the other player who can manage to make an impact in the absence of these players?
1) Arshdeep Singh Will Play for India at the ICC T20 World Cup:
Arshdeep Singh might be the one who replaces Jasprit Bumrah if he is out due to a back injury. Or even if Bumrah is present, Arshdeep may step in if Harshal Patel is having a tough time. In Bumrah?s absence, it is time for Arshdeep to put his hand up and show immense character. He does have the potential to get the job done and he needs to apply the same. Singh impressed in the 1st T20I against South Africa. He bothered the South Africans by sheer swing. He needs to replicate something similar at the death and make use of his wide yorkers.
2) Fazalhaq Farooqi Will Play for Afghanistan at the ICC T20 World Cup:
Fazalhaq Farooqi is the spearhead of the Afghanistan bowling. He is the first genuine fast bowler on the Afghan team. Farooqi was earlier associated as a net bowler for the Punjab Kings and the Chennai Super Kings before he got a full-time contract with the Sunrisers. He was elite in the Asia Cup. He bothered the left-handed batters with his outswing and for the right-handers, his angle itself was difficult to deal with.
3) Harry Brook:
Harry Brook will possibly find a place in the 11 as Jonny Bairstow is not there. So, Brook will get a good number of opportunities to impress. The race is between him and Ben Duckett. But Brook has been pretty consistent and deserves the place more. Harry Brook is a lesser-known prospect on the global stage the ICC T20 World Cup seems to be the right place for him to showcase what he has got. He also has a 360-degree game.
4) Naseem Shah will Play for Pakistan at the ICC T20 World Cup:
Shaheen is susceptible to injury and hence Naseem will have to shoulder some responsibility. Naseem Shah was a surprise call-up at the Asia Cup 2022 and he was worth the investment. He troubled Virat Kohli like no other bowler. His line and length are precise. At 19, Naseem already has 3 years of experience in top-flight cricket. Naseem will be rooting to get a chance at the ICC T20 World Cup. The race is between him, Shahnawaz Dahani, and Haris Rauf. Rauf is surely going to play.
5) Tim David:
Tim David and Marcus Stonis have a competition for the finisher's role in the Australian team. But Tim David will be preferred if he remains fit. The reason is that the ACB went out of its way to get his nationality documents prepared at the earliest. So, as the old people say ?If you borrow a suit, you need to wear that suit.? Hence it is clear that David will be in the playing XI. Tim hasn?t left a lasting impression as such on the international cricket circuit. So, the ICC T20 World Cup is the ideal platform to do so.
