ICC T20 World Cup 2022: Opening Batting Options for India: After the IPL 2022 season ends, the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia will be in the eyes of the Indian team. The Indian team needs to settle down and stop mixing and matching. The opening slot is something that needs stability. The players need to be available and injury-free. The openers are proactive batsmen and hold the innings from the beginning itself. They need not react to any situation as they can pace the innings themselves. Here is a look at the available options:?
1)Rohit Sharma will open in ICC T20 World Cup:
The first and the most prominent name is Rohit Sharma. The skipper of the Indian team is expected to be the first-choice opener. Rohit has to maintain his fitness as the players are going to be on the road for longer times. The IPL, then a SA series, and then the World Cup. If India wants to get its hand on the ICC T20 World Cup, Rohit has to fire. He is the batter with the most international T20 runs.
2) KL Rahul will open in ICC T20 World Cup:
KL Rahul is always in the mix. The Rohit-Rahul duo played exceptionally well in the 2019 World Cup as well. Apart from the first two games in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, the duo was phenomenal. Rahul has an average of 41 and a strike rate of 135. This makes him an ideal package. On his day Rahul looks flawless. His lofted cover drive is a treat to watch. When Rahul is on song, he makes the bowlers dance to his tunes.
3) Ishan Kishan:
This lefty from Jharkhand is also a good choice. He brings in the left-hand, right-hand combination. Ishan Kishan showed his skill in the game against Sri Lanka at Lucknow. After getting struck on the head by Lahiru Kumara?s bouncer, Ishan has now recovered. He has a six-hitting ability like none other. Ishan?s game against spin is exceptional. He can also play in the middle-order but the opening is the ideal position for him.
4) Mayank Agarwal:
Mayank Agarwal is a player who always finds a way to get into the Indian team. It is just God?s way of saying that Mayank deserves a proper chance. Mayank dominated the domestic circuit blatantly in 2018 and 2019. He has now taken leadership roles for the Punjab Kings. This improves his resume. Mayank and KL are a pair that have batted together since their school days. Both batters know each other very well. Mayank averages 39 at a strike rate of 132.
