India defeated Pakistan in New York in front of over 30,000 spectators by 6 runs in a nail-biting contest. Whenever these two teams i.e., India and Pakistan are in the two corners, the contest itself becomes entertaining. Be it a high-scoring ground, average-scoring ground, or below-average-scoring ground, These two teams have always delivered the flavors of strong spices in cricket.
In a similar contest last night, India snatched the match out of Pakistan’s jaw and credit must go to the bowling unit altogether. Defending a below-par score is never easy and that too when you have got just an 8% winning chance but they did it.
Pakistan won the toss and asked India to bat first. Rain however delayed the proceeding by an hour but there was no loss to the overs. Shaheen sent Rohit back to the pavilion in the 3rd over and India were 19 for two all of a sudden.
Rishabh Pant wasn’t able to find the sweet connection with the ball and still managed to find boundaries and runs, Axar, on the other hand, kept scoring with good intelligence. Naseem Shah knocked off Axar Patel in the 8th over and by the 12th over, India were 88 for just 3 down. It was all and all a powerful situation in that pitch but Pakistan turned the table after that.
India kept losing wickets one after the other and Pakistan were all over the Indian team. They got the momentum on their side and India were all-out for 119. India lost 7 wickets for just 30 runs in the last 9 overs. This looked to be an easy target for Pakistan with a long and attacking batting line-up.
Babar and Rizwan opened up for Pakistan. Siraj and Arshdeep were disciplined with the new ball and Bumrah created an opportunity but was dropped by Shivan Dube. But again in the same over, he made Babar knick a good length ball to slip and Surya grabbed an amazing low catch.
Though Pakistani batters were batting and getting some runs, they lacked in the intent. Fakhar showed a bit of courage but Hardik got him going back to the dugout. Pakistan were at 80 runs after 14 overs and needed 39 runs in 36 balls with 7 wickets in hand and Mohammad Rizwan playing at 31 on 43 balls but a peach from Bumrah castled through Rizwan.
Imad Wasim then tried to power his innings but he ran out of Partners from the other end. Pakistan scored 22 runs in 30 balls and needed 18 runs off the last over. Naseem Shah threw his bat on the ball but couldn’t do much and India won the contest by 6 runs.
