ICC turns down Ramiz Raja?s proposal of hosting four-nation tournament involving India, Pakistan, Australia and England: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Sunday turned down the Pakistan Cricket Board chief, Ramiz Raja?s, idea of hosting a four-nation tournament. Ramiz earlier proposed a tournament involving Pakistan, India, Australia and England to revive the intense rivalry between India and Pakistan.
The competition would also help the participating nations to generate revenue as the four aforementioned nations have huge fan bases.
However, the idea has been turned down by the apex cricket body. The cricket governing body declared the tournament against the guidelines of the Financial and Commercial Affairs Committee.
Notably, India and Pakistan play against each other only during the ICC sponsored tournaments (World Cups) and in the continental tournaments (Asia Cup). India stopped playing bilateral series against Pakistan after 2012 due to political and border tensions.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) stated that the Financial and Commercial Affairs committee doesn?t allow any member nation to host a competition involving more than three countries. Moreover, the proposed tournament might fade away the charm and glory of the ICC events i.e., World Cups.

?In any case, ICC?s Financial and Commercial Affairs Committee (F&CA) was against this proposal. As we know that the MPA (Members Participation Agreement) doesn?t allow any member nation to host more than tri-nation, organising four-nation every year would have in any case devalued ICC?s own marquee events,? a board member was quoted as saying by TOI.
With the rejection of the proposal, Ramiz Raja's aspirations to revive cricketing action between India and Pakistan have gone in vain.?
Interestingly, PCB chief Ramiz Raja might lose his position following Imran Khan?s removal as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Raja was appointed PCB chairman during Imran Khan?s tenure, however, Raja might lose his spot, unless the new PM wants him to continue.
