The 48-game tournament starts on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium between New Zealand and England, the two finalists of the 2019 World Cup event.

The 10 participating teams will trace a journey of multiple thousand kilometers during the 48-game tournament from as far as Dharmshala in the East to Chennai and Bengaluru in the South.

ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Teams

As many as 10 teams will take part in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in India. All the top cricketing nations across the globe will be in action as the showpiece event gets underway on October 5. The top eight teams of the ICC Men's ODI Super League Points Table got direct entry to the World Cup 2023, the remaining two spots were filled after grueling the remaining teams in the qualifying tournament held in Zimbabwe a couple of months ago.

The 10 Teams include - India (host), England (defending champions), Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Netherlands and Pakistan.

All 10 teams will play against each other once in the single round-robin format. Each victory in the group stage will fetch two points for the teams. At the end of the group stage, the total accumulated points will be calculated. The top four teams based on the total points scored will proceed to the next round. In case, two teams have equal points then the next tie-breaker would be the net run rate of the teams. The team having the upper hand in the net-run rate will prevail.

In the next round of the World Cup 2023, the top-ranked team will clash against the fourth-ranked side, while the teams in second and third place will take on each other. The winner of both the contests will play out the Final of the ICC World Cup 2023.

World Cup 2023 Prize Money in Indian Rupees

The winner of the ICC World Cup 2023 will take home a whopping sum of USD 4 Million while the losing finalist will receive USD 2 Million as a cash prize. The ICC has put aside USD 40,000 for each victory in the round robin group stage for the teams. After the end of the group stage, all six teams eliminated would fetch USD 100,000 apiece.
