Sri Lanka team are among the unfortunate teams that will be heading into the ICC World Cup 2023 without their star player. Premier spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has been ruled out of the tournament with a hamstring injury.

Wanindu Hasaranga has faced a grade three hamstring tear and is unlikely to recover in time. It?ll be a big setback for Sri Lanka as he has been the mainstay of the bowling lineup. The leg-spinner also missed the Asia Cup 2023 and his absence was quite evident.

Wanindu Hasaranga missing the ICC World Cup 2023 will give a massive headache to Sri Lanka team management. It?s fair to say to name a replacement of his quality won?t be possible and they need to dig in to see who to add into the team.

Apart from this, he has been handy with the bat as well as he has scored 832 runs to go with four half-centuries under his belt.

Sri Lanka will open their ICC World Cup 2023 campaign against South Africa on October 7 at the Arun Jaitely Stadium in Delhi. They are yet to announce their squad for the tournament.
