A 54-run lead in the first innings was the key to success for Australia. They batted beautifully in the first innings where they put 318 runs on the board. Australia restricted Pakistan to just 264 in the first innings and Pat Cummins took a fifer following his brilliant first spell.
Pakistan was back in the game when they successfully picked up four quick wickets and Australia were four down for just 16 runs. Had Pakistan been more precise and active on the field, they could have easily bundled the Aussies below par. But they were not and paid the price later on when Australia posted a big 317-run total on board.
