IND vs AUS: Australian ODI captain Pat Cummins is likely to be ruled out of the upcoming India series following a suspected broken wrist. The IND vs AUS three-match ODI series is scheduled to kickstart on September 22nd in Mohali.
Reportedly, Pat Cummins played the final Ashes test with a fractured left wrist. The Aussie pace spearhead continued bowling despite injuring his wrist in the 5th Ashes test against England, which they lost.
Pat injured his wrist on the first day of the final Ashes test in London but he was far from the thought of leaving the field. The Aussie skipper continued giving his services as the pain didn't hinder him much during bowling despite it being heavily strapped, however, it appeared that Cummins was in severe pain while batting with an injured wrist.
Two sources who are in the know of the development confirmed that the Australian medical team has not ruled out the possibility of a fracture, reported Sydney Morning Herald.
If the reports come out to be true, Pat Cummins will be ruled out of the upcoming white-ball tour of South Africa and India. The ace pacer would nurse his injury as soon as possible to be fit for the marquee ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
Cricket Australia (CA) is likely to announce its white ball squads for the tour of South Africa and India in the next couple of days. Senior all-rounder Mitchell Marsh will replace Pat Cummins as the captain of the side.
Australia is scheduled to tour South Africa for three T20Is and five ODI games, starting on August 30. Meanwhile, their tour to India will begin on September 22 in Mohali. The second and third games of the IND vs AUS 3-match ODI series will be held in Indore and Rajkot respectively.
