IND vs AUS World Cup 2023: NO Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, R Ashwin included - India's Likely Playing 11 vs Australia: The real essence of the ICC World Cup 2023 will begin tomorrow, October 8th, as hosts, Team India takes on Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. A few World Cup fixtures have taken place in the last three days, but it's been pale and bland to watch those games for the Indian fans, as they await their own boys in Blue to dominate the stage.
India and Australia will lock horns in match number 5 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 tomorrow, starting at 2:00 PM. Both the sides would look to begin their campaigns on a strong note and build early momentum right from the word go.
Rohit Sharma and Co. will be confident to face Australia, after defeating them 2-1 in the preceding series, held last month. Team India sealed the three-match ODI series against Australia by winning the first two games of the fixture.
Ahead of the IND vs AUS World Cup 2023 fixture, let's look at India's likely playing 11 vs Australia, possible changes, and players' availability for the game.
IND vs AUS: NO Shubman Gill, India's Likely Playing 11 vs Australia
A couple of days prior to the IND vs AUS World Cup 2023 fixture, Rohit Sharma and his men suffered a blow as Shubman Gill has been infected with dengue fever. Gill is currently under the watchful eyes of the medical team of the BCCI and is unlikely for the IND vs AUS clash on October 8 in Chennai.
Though the Indian management informed that Shubman Gill is doing fine, the chances of him playing India's first World Cup 2023 game are very slim.
Young left-arm batter Ishan Kishan can replace Gill in the opening position for the game against Australia. Kishan will be paired alongside skipper Rohit Sharma to open the innings.
In another change, team India is likely to include three spinners into the playing 11 as the pitch in Chennai aids spinners big time. Alongside Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja, veteran spinner R Ashwin is expected to feature in the playing 11.
Flamboyant batter Suryakumar Yadav's chances of getting a place for himself in the Indian playing 11 are not encouraging, especially with the availability of Shreyas Iyer, who is placed way ahead of Yadav in the pecking order.
KL Rahul will continue to keep wickets, even though a specialist in Ishan Kishan will be available. The recent past has shown that the team wants Rahul to do the wicketkeeping duties.
Team India's combination for the game against Australia would be - five batters, two all-rounders, two spinners and two pacers.
Below is IND vs AUS: India's likely playing 11 vs Australia:
India's Playing 11: Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj.
