Young India batter Shubman Gill hasn’t been able to make a mark in Test cricket. His decision to move to No.3 hasn’t paid off as well. The batter has failed drastically and hasn’t been able to score runs. He struggled a lot in South Africa and it won’t be a surprise if he doesn’t start in the IND vs ENG series.

KL Rahul
KL Rahul will be one of the prime candidates to bat at No.3 in IND vs ENG Tests if Shubman Gill doesn’t start. The batter has been slotted as a keeper in the team but team management reportedly has told BCCI that they won’t want the batter to keep wickets in India. The right-hander is likely to bat in the middle-order. However, it won’t be a surprise if the team makes him bat at No.3. Rahul has been terrific in the Test format and it won’t be a surprise if he takes that spot in place of Gill.
Dhruv Jurel
Another player that might get an opportunity at No.3 in place of struggling Shubman Gill is young batter Dhruv Jurel. The keeper-batter has received his maiden call-up in the team and it won’t be a surprise if he starts straightway. He has been doing a terrific job in the domestic circuit. And his presence allows the team to bat a keeper in top three as well. Batting Jurel at 3, allows team to play extra batter as well.
