IND vs ENG 2nd Test: KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja RULED OUT of India vs England 2nd Test: Senior team India batter KL Rahul and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja have been ruled out of the upcoming India vs England 2nd Test in Vishakhapatnam, starting February 02. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday, January 29 confirmed the development and subsequently announced the replacement players.
While all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was earlier reported to have possibly hurt his hamstring, has now been officially confirmed to have suffered a hamstring blow, senior batter KL Rahul complaint of pain in his right quadriceps and thus both have been ruled out of the India vs England 2nd test.
Ravindra Jadeja was seen clutching his hamstring and was seemingly in pain when he charged for a single towards mid-on where Ben Stokes was stationed. Stokes collected the ball and threw it towards the non-striker's end where Jadeja was approaching, but the batter couldn't reach the crease on time and was adjudged run-out.
He dragged himself out of the ground seemingly in pain, which raised concerns about his availability for the second test match in Vishakhapatnam.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul's injury has come as a shocker for the cricket fans. The batter played fine knocks of 86 and 22 runs in the two innings of the 1st test in Hyderabad.
Team India will feel the pinch of the absence of the two aforementioned batters. Their absence will enfeeble the Indian batting unit, which aims to bounce back in the second test after losing the well-poised first test by 28 runs.
To provide cover for the unavailable players, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have added the likes of Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar and Saurabh Kumar to the Indian squad.
Saurabh Kumar has been a household name in the domestics of Uttar Pradesh. The left-arm spinner has scalped 290 wickets in his first-class career at an average of 24.41. The 30-year-old isn't a newcomer to the Indian test setup but is yet to make his debut. The spinner was picked in India's squad for the Bangladesh test in 2022.
In addition to KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, veteran batter Virat Kohli is also unavailable for the India vs England 2nd test. Virat made himself unavailable for selection for the first two tests citing personal reasons.
Below is Team India's revised squad for the 2nd Test against England in Vishakhapatnam, starting on February 02.
