England are scheduled to visit India for a five-match red ball series next year and they have announced a strong 16-man test squad. With the aim of a big upset to India, England have added two uncapped spinners and an uncapped pacer in the squad with the likes of Jack Leach, James Anderson, and Mark Wood.
Fast bowler Gus Atkinson, and off-spinners Tom Hartley and Shoaib Bashir are the three uncapped players who were too good during the domestic county season. The inclusion of Hartley of Shoaib Bashir has definitely provided them strength as three matches are set to be played at Hyderabad, Rajkot, and Ranchi where the ball is for sure going to spin.
Rehan Ahmed, a teenage leg-spinner, is back in the Test team as well. He made his Test debut in Pakistan in December and took five wickets. On a somewhat flatter pitch, he was too dominant against Pakistan; now, on Indian soil against Indian class batting line-up, it will be his ultimate measure.
In other key takeaways, wicketkeeper batter Ben Woakes makes a comeback after getting dropped for the Ashes. Ollie Pope is also back recovering from their respective back and shoulder injuries. Surprisingly Chris Woakes didn't get a ticket in England Test Squad, who have repeatedly performed well on the Indian pitches.
