IND vs ENG: KL Rahul ruled out; Jasprit Bumrah returns as BCCI announces squad for last England Test

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday (29th February) announced the updated Indian squad for the last Test against England. The match between the teams will take place in Dharamsala from 7th March.

KL Rahul has been ruled out of the last IND vs ENG due to a quadriceps injury. The batter suffered an injury in the first game and since then has been out of action. It was expected that he would return for the last game but he still hasn?t attained full fitness.?

KL Rahul has moved to London and will be consulting the specialists in London for further management of his issue. On the other hand, ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been recalled into the team for the last IND vs ENG game. The fast bowler was rested for the 4th Test.?

All-rounder Washington Sundar was also released from the squad for the last IND vs ENG Test. The all-rounder will be now featuring in the Ranji Trophy Semi-final fixture against Mumbai, starting March 2nd, 2024. The all-rounder will join the Indian team back after the domestic game. 

The rest of the Indian squad for the last IND vs ENG is pretty similar to what was in the fourth Test. Rajat Patidar despite being under scanner has retained his place in the team but it is expected that he won?t be featuring in the game as Devdutt Padikkal is likely to make his debut. 

BCCI also provided an updated on Mohammed Shami. The governing body stated that the fast bowler underwent a successful surgery on his right heel. The pacer has shown great signs of recovery and will be soon travelling to National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for his rehabilitation process.
