IND vs ENG: England reveals their playing 11 for the first Test against India

With just a few hours remaining before the start of the IND vs ENG Test, the England cricket team has announced their playing 11 for the first Test. What has caught the attention of many is that have named only one fast bowler in the team and have left out veteran James Anderson as well.

Zack Crawley and Ben Duckett have been named as the openers for England for the first IND vs ENG Test. The duo has been successful as a pair and has played some quality knocks at the top. The visitors would be hoping that they carry their good form and take the team to a good start.

Ollie Pope will be batting at No.3 for England in the first IND vs ENG Test. He has made this position his own and has played some fine knocks for the team. He would be hoping to set the stage on fire in the Indian conditions and help the team win.

The experienced duo of Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow have been drafted at No.4 and No.5 in the team. Both of them will be extremely crucial for the team in the first IND vs ENG Test. They have a great experience of conditions in India and also play spin well. Their role becomes extremely important for the team.

Skipper Ben Stokes has been declared fit for the game. He recently underwent knee surgery and there was a lot of speculation if he will play or not. But he has forced his way into the team. There’s no confirmation if he will bowl or not but his presence as a batter will be a big boost for the team.

Harry Brook not being there has paved the way for Ben Foakes to take the role of keeper in the team. The right-hander was brilliant behind the stumps for the team on the last tour and made handy contributions with the bat. It will also be a comeback series for him and would be hoping to make a mark in the first IND vs ENG game itself.

Rehan Ahmed, Tom Hartley and Jack Leach will be the three spinners in the team whereas Mark Wood is the only pacer in the team. It remains to be seen how the strategy of playing just one pacer will work for England in the first IND vs ENG game.
