IND vs NZ: New Zealand squad announced for T20Is against India | India vs New Zealand 2023

IND vs NZ: India is going to host New Zealand from January 18 to February 1 for an ODI series and a T20I series. The ODI series includes 3 ODIs and the T20I series also includes the same number of matches. All-rounder Mitchell Santner is handed the captaincy of New Zealand for the T20I series.

Kane Williamson, a veteran New Zealand player, will miss out on the white ball series against India. He chose to step down as T20I captain after the World Cup, and the fact that he is not listed in the team suggests that New Zealand has also made the decision to follow India's lead and develop a new core in preparation for the T20 World Cup in 2024. 

Tim Southee also misses out on the T20I squad. Remember, the ODI series is starting on January 18, and the Twenty20 International series begins on January 27.

The New Zealand Cricket Board has announced a 15 membered squad and that all-around player Mitchell Santner will lead the New Zealand T20I side. The 15-man squad includes nine players who featured in last year's T20 World Cup in Australia, where they lost to Pakistan in the semi-finals.

The 27-year-old Auckland fast bowler Ben Lister is a newcomer to the New Zealand squad. He was recognized as Auckland Cricket's Men's Bowler of the Year in the previous season. He had recently traveled to India with the New Zealand A side.

The all-rounder for the Canterbury Kings, Henry Shipley, is another rookie. He recently made his international debut for his team in the ongoing ODI Series against Pakistan. Furthermore, Otago Volts leg-spinning all-rounder Michael Rippon makes his first outing in a New Zealand squad since making his debut against Scotland on the European Tour last year.

Talking on Ben Lister, Gavin Larsen, the head selector, said Lister had impressed him with his versatility of abilities across the formats. He said ?Ben has made an exciting impact for Auckland early in his career in red and white ball cricket. Since his debut in late 2017, he is the Aces? leading wicket-taker in T20 and List A cricket.?

"His ability to swing the ball considerably as a left-armer is particularly exciting. We all felt for Ben after his tour ended the way it did last year, and it?s a testament to his work ethic that he?s been able to return to domestic cricket so strongly this season,? he added
