IND vs PAK T20 World Cup 2024 Match in Danger as ISIS-K issues threat, State Police beef up security | India vs Pakistan

IND vs PAK: The Local Police officials in Nassau have tightened the security measures for the upcoming India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024 fixture following threats issued by a terror group named ISIS-K. The terror group has called for that one "lone wolf" to act on the event on the day of the IND vs PAK fixture.

Notably, Team India is set to clash with Pakistan in Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on June 9. The IND vs PAK fixture will be part of the global ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 tournament which is being held in the West Indies and the USA.

Patrick J. Ryder, the Nassau County Police Commissioner, confirmed the threat they received in April. Following this more specific threats were issued by the terror group named ISIS-K.

"In a video that has gone global, the terror group is calling for that 'Lone Wolf' to act out," said Patrick Ryder. "When you have a game and a crowd as big as this, everything is credible."

He explained that the threats in the following days became more specific to the IND vs PAK game on June 9, but it didn't reveal the location.

The local security officials have racked up the security arrangements for the high-octane clash between India and Pakistan in New York.

?I can guarantee you this. This is the largest security we?ve ever had to do in this county?s history, and I can also guarantee you this ? the safest place to be in Nassau County on June 9th will be inside that stadium,? Ryder said.

The governor of New York, Kathy Hochul, has also directed the local police to reinforce the security arrangements and that the teams are working in coordination with federal and local law enforcement agencies.

?In preparation for the T20 World Cup 2024, my team has been working with federal & local law enforcement to keep attendees safe. While there is no credible threat at this time, I?ve directed New York Police to elevate security measures & we?ll continue to monitor as the event nears,? wrote Hochul on her X account.

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman asserted that any threats that come their way are taken seriously and the authorities are taking necessary precautions for it as well.

?We take every threat seriously. There are the same procedures for every threat. To that end, we have taken many, many precautions as well as making sure that the stadium and the surrounding Eisenhower Park are safe,? Bruce Blakeman said.

Notably, ISIS-Khorasan is a terror group that generally operates in Central and South Asia. It has a history of violent attacks including the one in Moscow concert hall in March.
