India vs Pakistan: In the third match of the Super 4 of the Asia Cup 2023 played between India and Pakistan, India defeated Pakistan by a margin of 228 runs. The result of the match, which started on Sunday, came the next day, on Monday. Keeping in view the possibility of rain, ACC had reserved a day for this important match, due to which the result of the game came out the next day. Colombo's R. Premadasa Stadium became a witness to this historic match. Pakistani captain Babar Azam won the toss and invited India to bat. While batting, the men in blue displayed excellent batting and scored 356 runs at the loss of only two wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. There was a partnership of 121 runs for the first wicket between openers Rohit Sharma and Shubham Gill. Both batsmen scored half-centuries.
Virat Kohli, India's star batsman, has scored his 47th ODI century while batting well against Pakistan. The 34-year-old batsman has now scored four consecutive centuries at the R. Premadasa Cricket Stadium.
Virat Kohli and KL Rahul put on a 233-run partnership for the third wicket. This is the most significant partnership in Asia Cup history. Previously, this record was held by Pakistan's Mohammad Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed. During Asia Cup 2012, the two players had a 224-run partnership.
Chasing the target, Pakistan team failed to play the entire 50 overs, losing ten wickets for 128 runs in just 32 overs. Fakhar Zaman scored the most runs for the team, he scored 27 runs in 50 balls with the help of two fours. No batsman from the Pakistan team could even cross the 30-run mark.
In bowling action, star mystery spinner Kuldeep Yadav took the maximum of five wickets for the Indian team, he took five wickets for just 25 runs in eight overs. This was the second five-wicket haul of his career. Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur got 1 wicket each. Pandya took the wicket of Pakistan captain Babar Azam.
