India tour of South Africa postponed by a week, to begin on 26th December.
India tour of South Africa: The most awaited decision on India?s tour of South Africa 2021 has been rolled out by the Indian cricket board on Saturday. In the 90th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which was held in Kolkata, the executives officially gave a green signal to the tour of the rainbow nation.
Team India will travel to South Africa, however, there will be a revision in the schedule and itinerary. The tour will begin with three matches test series followed by the as many matches ODI series. The test series will commence on 26th December.
Originally, India and South Africa were slated to play three test matches, three ODIs and four T20I matches, however, the T20I matches have been pushed to a later date. The entrance of the new variant of coronavirus "Omicron" in South Africa prompted the officials to rethink before boarding the flight.
?The tour is now confirmed and the arrival timings of the India team will be moved out by a week, to allow for effective logistical planning,? CSA said in an official statement.

?With the Proteas men?s team having already participated in no less than eight international cricket Bubble Safe Environment (BSEs).
The revised schedule will be confirmed by Cricket South Africa (CSA) in the next 48 hours along with the allocation of venues.
The BCCI secretary Jay Shah also confirmed the development as he said, ?BCCI has confirmed (to the) CSA that (the) Indian team will travel for three Tests and three ODIs. The remaining four T20Is will be played at a later date.?
The tour will now be held under strict covid bio-bubble rules. Fans involvement will be minimised to complete the tour without any further disturbance in the schedule.
