India vs England: England test skipper Joe Root becomes the first test batsman to score a double ton on his 100th Test match. Root on Saturday against India during the first innings of the 1st Test match at Chennai achieved this feat. Root came dancing down the track and lofted a Ravichandran Ashwin delivery over long-on to reach this incredible milestone with a six on day two of the first Test in Chennai.
Root is in the form of his life and performed scintillating knocks in the last three outings. He even scored 150+ runs in each test he played in 2021 - two against Sri Lanka and one against India.
England skipper, against India, scored his 5th double ton and his 3rd as a skipper. In the last three innings, this is his second double hundred and is in red hot touch in the ground.
He even joins the list of Australian legend Sir Don Bradman in scoring three 150+ runs score on the trot. Root becomes the second international cricketer to achieve this milestone after Don Bradman.
Pakistan?s Inzamam-ul-Haq was the highest scorer in the 100th Test game, he scored 184 in his 100th test appearance while Joe Root surpassed him to make the highest score in the 100th test outing. He scored 218 runs before given leg before.
Earlier on Friday, 1st Day of India-England test match, Root joined the list that featured player with a century on their 100th test appearance. He becomes the third England cricketer and ninth overall to score a ton.
Skipper?s scintillating performance against India has put England on the ride. At the stumps on Day 2, England is 555 for eight wickets. Joe Root was accompanied by his fellow Ben Stokes, and Dom Sibley to put a mammoth total against India.
England still have Jack Leach and Dominic Bess batting and will hope to score as many runs as possible.
