India vs England: Virat Kohli will step down from Captaincy if India loose 2nd Test: Monty Panesar.
India vs England: Indian skipper Virat Kohli will step down from the captaincy role in the test format if India loses one more test says former England spinner Monty Panesar. Kolhi who is not having a good time with his captaincy role will be under pressure in the second test against England.
India had lost the first test against England by 227 runs on day 5 in home conditions. This will be India?s strait fourth loss under Virat Kohli and he will surely be under-pressure when he will show up for the second test. His Indian counterpart and test vice-captain, Ajinkya Rahane has gained a lot of success with the captaincy role in the recent past and this will be a matter of worry for the Indian skipper.
In an interaction with WION, Panesar said, ?Virat Kohli is one of the greatest batsmen of all-time but the team is simply not doing well under him and we have the result in the last four Test that India played under him. I think Kohli will be under pressure and more now because Ajinkya Rahane has done phenomenally well as the captain.?
?The number of losses has gone four and if India goes to five then he will step down from the captaincy of Test,? Panesar added.
England played really well all five days: Monty Panesar
Virat Kohli fourth test loss came in the first test against England.
Speaking about the 1st Test, Panesar said, ?It is an unbelievable win. The way England have played over the last five days show how much confidence is there in that team. Joe Root needs to be lauded for the way he led his troops from the front. Everyone in that team stepped up in some manner and that is what makes team sport great. The players need to saviour this moment. It will be celebrated for long.?
India and England will be up for the second test starting 13th February. Both the teams are still in the fight of ICC World Test Championship final berth. The series will decide who will go head to head with New Zealand at Lords.
