India vs Pakistan in Asia Cup 2022 on August 28: Ahead of the most anticipated ICC T20 World Cup 2022 fixture, arch-rivals India and Pakistan are set to face each other in the Asia Cup 2022. India-Pakistan?s clash in Asia Cup 2022 will be their first meeting since the last T20 World Cup in the UAE. The fans will see India locking horns against Pakistan on August 28.
Notably, similar to the year 2016, this year?s Asia Cup will be held in the T20 format. With the all-important ICC T20 World Cup 2022 lined ahead, the Asia Cup 2022 will be crucial for all the participating teams. The Asian cricket tournament will provide a perfect setting to prepare for the upcoming World Cup in Down Under.
The Asia Cup 2022 will be held in Sri Lanka. Despite facing severe economic and political tensions, Sri Lanka has expressed its willingness to host the multi-nation tournament. Interestingly, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has also given a nod to Sri Lanka to host the tournament.
Moreover, the tournament is being conducted after an unusual hiatus of three years. The last edition of the tournament was held in the year 2018 and since then it has been postponed due to various reasons with covid being the primary one.
Team India are the defending champions of the tournament and have lifted the Asia Cup title most number of times (6).
After India vs Pakistan clash in the Asia Cup 2022, which is likely to be held on August 28, the two sides will next meet in the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia on October 23, if the team doesn?t qualify for the knockouts of the Asian tournament. The World Cup fixture is slated to be staged in Melbourne Cricket Ground.
When the aforementioned two sides last met, Pakistan hammered India and dented India?s chances of the playoffs in World Cup 2021. The Indian top order failed to fire against the Pakistani bowling unit and this time they will be looking to avenge the loss incurred.
