ICC WTC Final: Indian skipper Virat Kohli leaves behind MS Dhoni?s record in the ICC WTC Final.

ICC WTC Final: Going forward in the ICC World Test Championship final, Indian skipper Virat Kohli surpasses former captain MS Dhoni?s record of most test appearances as a lead.

The final of the ICC World Test Championship against New Zealand is Virat Kohli?s 61st test appearance as a skipper, most by an Indian captain in the longest format. Dhoni, who bid his adieu to the red ball cricket back in 2014, captained team India for 60 test matches.

The 32-years old dashing Indian skipper is also Asia?s longest-serving skipper with Pakistan?s Misbah ul Haq and Sri Lanka?s Arjuna Ranatunga right behind him in the list.  Both the latter captains led their respective teams in 56 test games.

Talking about the longest-serving skipper in the history of test cricket, South Africa?s Graeme Smith leads the chart with a record 109 Test matches. Smith is also the only cricketer in the history of test cricket to have led a side in over 100 games.

Aussie Allan Border is second in the list having captained Australia in 93 games.

India vs New Zealand ICC WTC Final:

Earlier today, New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and invited Virat Kohli and his men to bat first.

India put up a solid opening stand as Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill took India past 61 runs in 20 overs. Sharma departed after scoring a well-timed 34 off Kyle Jamieson while Neil Wagner picked up Shubman Gill (28 runs).

After the lunch on Day2, the bowling change worked for the kiwis, as Cheteshwar Pujara was caught lbw in 41st over.

As of now, skipper Virat Kohli (29* off 87)and his deputy Ajinkya Rahane (8* off 40) are in the middle.

India are 108 in the loss of 3 wickets after 52 overs on Day 2 of the ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand.
