INDvSL 1st ODI: Rohit Sharma showed a heartwarming gesture as he walked up to the crowd to console a young kid who broke down in tears after seeing the Indian captain ahead of the opening One Day International (ODI) against Sri Lanka in Guwahati. In a video doing rounds on social media, Rohit can be seen cheering a fan while playfully pulling his cheeks.

Reportedly, the incident happened after Rohit addressed the media on the eve of the 1st ODI between India and Sri Lanka. The young kid was amongst a group of people who had gathered outside the field to get a glimpse of their favourite cricketers.

Sharma can be heard saying to the kid, who got emotional seeing him: "Rone ka kya baat hai, chota bacha hai tu." (Why are you crying, you are just a little boy)." The flamboyant batter then pulled the cheeks of the kid and jokingly said: ?Itne mote mote gaal hai tere.? (You have such fat cheeks)."

INDvSL: India vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI Highlights So far

Team India is currently riding in a commanding position thanks to a healthy opening partnership between Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. Both the openers stitched a 143-run partnership before the first dismissal of Shubman Gill, who departed after scoring 70 runs in 60 deliveries. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma played his part too, scoring 83 runs in 67 deliveries with the help of nine boundaries and three sixes.

With his 47th half-century, Rohit also completed 9500 runs in One Dayers. In 236 ODI games, Rohit has now mustered 9511 runs with 29 tons and 47 half-centuries.

By the time of writing this article, team India has scored 200 runs in the loss of two wickets after 27 overs. Virat Kohli is unbeaten at 27 runs in 19 balls while Shreyas Iyer has scored an unbeaten 18 runs in 16 deliveries.

For Sri Lanka, skipper Danush Shanaka picked Shubman Gill while Dilshan Madhushanka bowled Rohit Sharma.
