IPL 2021: Can?t take England lightly, want to play IPL 2021: Cheteshwar Pujara.
Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021: Team India?s dependable batsman Cheteshwar Pujara in talks with NDTV reveals about the historic win against Australia, the upcoming England series and the Indian Premier League 2021.
Pujara says Indian middle-order batsmen did better than the Aussie squad and that is the reason why India created history in Australia. He also feels the character and grit in the young guys are tremendous which will help them in future.
?Australia is a great country to play cricket, they give us tough competition but the grit and character shown by the Indian cricketers was amazing. It was difficult to digest the low score in Adelaide but we took the remaining games as three-game test series,? Pujara told NDTV.
?Australia did good in the first test and they failed to do that from the second. We batted well after collected ourselves form the humiliating defeat and that was the gameplan.?
Cheteshwar Pujara batting in Gaba looked unperturbed as he took several blows but he stood tall against the Aussie?s bouncers. Pujara even after taking numerous blows kept India moving in the run chase.
Speaking about the blows that he took, Pujara said: "There is a little bit of blood clot on the shoulder but it's all settled, now. I have recovered well."
?I was having all the protections, wearing helmets but the blow on the finger was the massive one and it was painful. I thought my finger was not with me anymore.?
?I took the blow on my finger during the net session at Melbourne and I carried that to Sydney. But when the same finger got hit in Brisbane it was unbearable for me,? Pujara said.
Ready for the England series: Cheteshwar Pujara
Pujara is all set for the next challenge in the coming days and feels it will be not an easy pushover against England.
?Ready for the England series. The primary aim is to qualify for the ICC World Test Championship now. They play good cricket in India and has clean swept Sri Lanka. We won?t take them lightly.?
Pujara also says that he wants to be the part of coming IPL and will do well there.
?Definitely want to play IPL. Given the opportunity, I am confident enough to do well there also.?
"I never felt I was racially abused. I had a wonderful time playing for Yorkshire. I am not sure if that name 'Steve' was used for me in that manner. A friend over there had a hard time pronouncing my name," Pujara concluded.
