IPL 2022: Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap: Mayank Agarwal-spearheaded Punjab Kings (PBKS) convincingly registered a victory against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in match 38 of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 in the Wankhede Stadium on Monday.
After opting to bowl first, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) did well to keep Punjab openers quiet during the powerplay. Despite scoring low in the powerplay, Punjab managed to post a total of 187 runs against the Super Kings.
Shikhar Dhawan played a match-winning knock of unbeaten 88 runs in 59 deliveries on a sluggish Wankhede's surface. Bhanuka Rajapaksha gave fine support to Dhawan and scored 42 from 32 balls.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) once again got off to a poor start owing to the misfiring top order. Ruturaj Gaikwad played second fiddle for a while, however, his patience ended on 30 runs from 27 deliveries.
Ambati Rayudu played a brilliant knock of 78 runs in 39 deliveries and gave CSK slight hopes to seal the game, however, he was dismissed by a toe crusher from Kagiso Rabada.
Chennai subsequently lost the game by 11 runs and their chances of playoff entrance have also begun to diminish.

Chennai Super Kings, on the other hand, will remain in the penultimate position and their search for a winning momentum once again fades away. The yellow brigade has lost six out of its eight fixtures in the Tata IPL 2022.

IPL 2022 Orange Cap:
Shikhar Dhawan went past 300 runs mark in the Indian Premier League season fifteen following his brilliant 88 runs knock against Chennai Super Kings. The southpaw has been highly consistent in the tournament and his scores rightly show it. Dhawan also became the second cricketer after Virat Kohli to reach a landmark of 6000 runs in the history of the IPL.
Meanwhile, Ambati Rayudu also stormed into the 10th position after he scored a quickfire 78 runs from 39 balls. With a total of 246 runs in eight matches, Rayudu stands tall at 10th position in the Orange Cap race.
IPL 2022 Purple Cap:
CSK?s all-rounder Dwayne Bravo scalped two wickets against Punjab Kings (PBKS) which helped him to surpass Kuldeep Yadav in the purple cap race. Bravo now has 14 wickets in eight IPL 2022 matches and is presently sitting in the third position.
Rahul Chahar?s consistent performance continued as he features in the 10th place in the highest wicket taker?s list with 10 scalps in eight outings.
