IPL 2022 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap - Updated on April 15: Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans (GT) returned back to winning ways as they defeated inaugural champions Rajasthan Royals by huge 37 runs and sealed the top place in the updated IPL 2022 points table.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) had an excellent start with their bowling after putting Gujarat Titans (GT) to bat first. Matthew Wade and Vijay Shankar were dismissed cheaply by RR inside the powerplay. Opener Shubman Gill followed them soon after the powerplay ended.
Gujarat were three down at 53 runs score in seven overs, however, things changed drastically after skipper Hardik Pandya and young Abhinav Mahonar stepped into the field.
The duo stitched a match-winning 86 runs partnership and took Gujarat to a total of 139 in 16 overs. Hardik Pandya remained unbeaten at 87 runs from 52 deliveries while Abhinav Manohar scored 43 off 28 balls.
To finish things handsomely, David Miller smoked 31 runs from mere 14 deliveries and helped Gujarat Titans (GT) score massive 192 runs in 20 overs.
In pursuit of a massive total, Rajasthan Royals got off to a quick start. Jos Buttler gave a brisk start to the Rajasthan Royals? innings, but, wickets falling at the other end hurt them a lot.
While Buttler was scoring from one end, the other end was busy with new batters coming in. Gujarat Titans (GT) reduced RR to 65 runs in the toss of three wickets before the end of the powerplay.
The formidable batting of RR looked pale in front of Gujarat?s potent bowling unit. The bowlers picked timely wickets and restricted RR to a score of 155 in 20 overs. In between, Shimron Hetmyer tried to bring back his team into the contest, however, was failed to achieve his goal.
Yash Dayal and Lokie Ferguson picked up three wickets apiece for Gujarat while one wicket each fell in the bag of Mohammad Shami and Hardik Pandya.

IPL 2022 Points Table:
With the win, Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans (GT) claimed the top position in the points table. The franchise has now four wins from five IPL 2022 matches. Rajasthan Royals slipped down to third place after getting hammered by 37 runs.
The second spot is claimed by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) with three wins from five matches followed by Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants.

IPL 2022 Orange Cap:
GT leader Hardik Pandya played an unbeaten 87 run knock owing to which he jumps off to the second position in the IPL 2022 Orange Cap race. Pandya has a total of 228 runs in five innings.?
Meanwhile, Jos Buttler has strongly held his Orange Cap with 272 runs so far in five IPL matches.
RR batter Shimron Hetmyer enters the top five ranks with his overall score of 197 runs in five matches.
IPL 2022 Purple Cap:
Yuzvendra Chahal is placed at the top of the Purple Cap chart with 12 wickets in five matches. He is followed by KKR?s Umesh Yadav with 10 wickets, DC spinner Kuldeep Yadav with 10 wickets and Wanindu Hasaranga.
Gujarat pacer Lokie Ferguson scalped three wickets in the contest against Rajasthan Royals. Ferguson now has a total of 8 wickets in five matches and is placed in the fifth position.
