IPL 2022 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap: KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Sunday wiped out struggling Mumbai Indians (MI) by 36 runs in the Wankhede Stadium to storm back into the top four teams.

KL Rahul continued his sublime form as he slammed his second hundred of the season against Mumbai Indians. Rahul amassed unbeaten 103 runs from 62 deliveries. The LSG skipper couldn?t get any substantial support from the other end due to which they only managed to post a total of 168 runs in 20 overs.

Despite good bowling efforts to confine Lucknow Super Giants to a low scoring total, Mumbai Indians couldn?t get over the line. MI?s 15 Crore buy, Ishan Kishan once again failed to score runs and just scored 20-ball eight during his short stay.

Rohit Sharma got off to a good start, however, he threw away his wicket, playing an irresponsible shot (39 off 31). Dewald Bravis and Suryakumar Yadav couldn?t score runs in the match. Young Tilak Verma looked in good touch, however, excessive scoreboard pressure took him too and he lost his wicket.

In the end, Lucknow claimed their fifth victory of the season defeating Mumbai Indians (MI) by a massive 36 runs in match 37 of the Tata IPL 2022.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have stormed back into the top four of the Points Table. KL Rahul and Co have five wins from eight matches and now just need to seal three more matches to get a sureshot qualification to the playoffs.

On the other side, Mumbai went down with their straight eighth loss of the season. This is the worst ever start any IPL team could get ever. If Mumbai had any hopes left for the qualifications prior to the match against LSG, that too is now diminished.

Gujarat Titans (GT) continued to lead the race with 12 points from just seven matches followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR).

Mumbai Indians? young batter Tilak Verma, who continues to shine despite his franchise?s poor form, has taken a leap to fourth place with 272 total runs in the Tata IPL 2022.

The match between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants couldn?t produce any disturbance to the purple cap chart. Lucknow?s lone pacer in the top 10, Avesh Khan was unavailable for the match due to a niggle.

Mumbai though bowled really well against Lucknow, however, wicket-taking still remains one of the main concerns.

Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal is leading the bowler?s chart with 18 wickets under his belt in seven matches followed by SRH pacer T Natarajan with 15 scalps, Kuldeep Yadav with 13 wickets respectively.
