IPL 2022: Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap: The KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were up against Mayank Agarwal?s Punjab Kings (PBKS) in match number 42 of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association International Stadium, Pune. The contest between the friends turned foes was won by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as they defeated Punjab by 20 runs.
After winning the flip of the coin, Punjab decently managed to keep Lucknow Super Giants quiet throughout the first innings. KL Rahul was dismissed early by pacer Sandeep Sharma, however, Quinton de Kock and Deepak Hooda kept the scoreboard ticking.
De Kock managed 46 runs while Hooda played a crucial inning of 34 runs for Lucknow. Following these two wickets, Punjab didn?t let other LSG batters settle in and score runs as they picked successive wickets.
In 20 overs, Lucknow could only get 153 runs in the loss of eight wickets.
Once again, the opening combination for Punjab Kings failed to fire. While Mayank Agarwal looked dominating at one end, Shikhar Dhawan couldn?t time the ball at another. Southpaw Shikhar Dhawan could score just five runs off his 15 deliveries.
Consistent wickets falling at one end created pressure on the set Punjab batter and the Mohali based franchise eventually lost the match by 20 runs. Their batting unit succumbed against the potent bowling lineup of Lucknow Super Giants.
