IPL 2022 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) acutely managed to seal a victory against Mumbai Indians (MI) in a must-win match number 65 of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, last night.
After opting to bowl first, Mumbai Indians (MI) bowlers managed to provide an initial breakthrough in just three overs, however, collective hitting by Rahul Tripathi, Nicholas Pooran and Priyam Garg blew Mumbai away. Rahul Tripathi was highly exceptional as he whacked 76 runs from 44 deliveries and helped SRH post a total of 193 in 20 overs.
In pursuit of a high total, Mumbai were off to a solid start with Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan doing the early damage. A rare initial movement this season from the bat of two Mumbai openers kept them in the game until the very last moment.
Rohit Sharma fell two shy of his half-century while Ishan Kishan was denied the 50 runs milestone by seven runs. Following the dismissal of the openers, Mumbai?s middle-order collapsed and the franchise was reduced to 144-5.
Tim David almost played a blinder (46 off 18) with his sensational six-hitting abilities, however, an unfortunate run-out sent him to the dugout before finishing the game. In the final over Mumbai required 18 runs, but could get only 15 and lost the game by three runs.

With the win, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) bagged two crucial points and they are now tied with Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) with 12 points apiece. Amongst the three aforementioned, Sunrisers Hyderabad has the worst net run rate (-0.230) due to which they currently stand in the eighth position.
On the other hand, Mumbai Indians (MI) have already been eliminated from the tournament. The five-time champions are placed at the bottom of the points table with just three victories from 13 matches. They have one more match remaining in the tournament to avoid their first-ever wooden spoon.

IPL 2022 Orange Cap:
SRH batter Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi have stormed into the top ten of the IPL 2022 orange cap race. Although the former could only manage to score 9 runs against Mumbai but was enough to lift him up to number 10. Abhishek Sharma has a total of 383 runs from 13 matches so far.
Rahul Tripathi, the Man of the Match, scored 76 runs in just 44 deliveries which helped him gain several places to reach 8th in the orange cap tally. Tripathi has amassed 393 runs so far from 13 outings.
The chart is still led by RR batter Jos Buttler (627) followed by KL Rahul (469), David Warner (427) and Shikhar Dhawan (421).
IPL 2022 Purple Cap:
Speedster Umran Malik once again breathed fire and scalped three wickets against Mumbai Indians. The pacer was exceptional with his execution, barring the first over which went for 17 runs. Malik picked Ishan Kishan, Daniel Sams and Tilak Verma.
The pacer has jumped four places to reach the fourth spot in the purple cap tally with 21 wickets in 13 matches.
