The thrilling contest has been won by Gujarat Titans by defeating Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets to enter their maiden final of the cash-rich Indian T20 tournament.
The flip of the coin went in the favour of Gujarat Titans and they opted to bowl first. Rajasthan Royals (RR) couldn?t produce a good start to their innings as Yashasvi Jaiswal was sent back in just the second over. Moreover, in form Jos Buttler also looked rusty initial in his innings.
Skipper Sanju Samson lifted the spirits of Rajasthan and began dominating the opposition with his flamboyant batting skills. Samson?s inning was a treat to watch while it lasted. The RR skipper scored quickfire 47 runs off just 26 deliveries. Devdutt Padikkal tried his hands to whack the bowlers, however, he couldn?t get more than 28 runs from 20 deliveries.
Opener Jos Buttler was stuck to the one end of the pitch and was getting ready to begin his show. With some luck initially, Buttler tonked 89 runs in 56 deliveries and helped Rajasthan post a total of 188 runs in 20 overs.
Gujarat didn?t have a perfect start either as Wriddhiman Saha was dismissed in the second delivery by Trent Boult. However, their settled middle order played sensible cricket with some calculated risks and fetched the total.
Shubman Gill scored 21-ball 35, and Aussie wicketkeeper Matthew Wade helped with his 30-ball 35 runs before getting dismissed. Skipper Hardik Pandya and David Miller remained unbeaten in the chase and took Gujarat over the line against Rajasthan.
Hardik amassed 40 runs from 27 deliveries while David Miller played a blinder, scoring 68 runs in just 38 deliveries. Both the batters remained unbeaten and confirmed Gujarat Titans? ticket for the final of the Tata IPL 2022 which is slated to be held in Ahmedabad?s Narendra Modi Stadium.
