Brian Lara To Replace Tom Moody as Head Coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad:

Sunrisers Hyderabad came up with a big announcement. Batting legend Brian Lara has taken over as the head coach of the Orange Army for the 2023 IPL season, replacing Tom Moody. Lara was part of the SRH team management last season as a strategic advisor and batting coach, and this will be his first assignment as the head coach of a T20 team. Lara was part of the SRH management last season, when the team finished eighth. It is learned that Moody had come to a mutual agreement to part ways with Sunrisers.

Moody returned to Sunrise in 2021 as director of cricket and fellow Australian Trevor Bayliss as head coach. Bayliss departed after a disappointing 2021 season in which Sunrisers finished last with just three wins, the franchise appointed Moody as head coach, the second time he had held the position. In his highly successful first stint, between 2013 and 2019, Moody helped Sunrisers reach the playoffs five times out of nine and win the IPL in 2016.

The orange army had a good auction this year. They had assembled a balanced and belligerent squad. In the first half of the season, Williamson was lucky at the toss, which played a big part in helping Sunrisers win five matches in a row. However, they slipped down equally fast in the points table with five consecutive losses. Williamson's poor batting form and also those injuries to two key Indian players T Natarajan and Washington Sundar left Sunrisers disappointed. The same was admitted by Moody on 22 may when SRH ended their season, said "We were small margins away from being in a different position on the table and that could've easily been in the top 4."

This will be Lara's first major stint as batting coach, who has over 20,000 international runs and is arguably considered the best left-handed batsman to grace the game. Since the team management has put their trust on him and there is a lot of expectations from him, then let's see how far he takes the Hyderabad team and how they perform.
