IPL 2023 Final CSK vs GT Weather Forecast, Rain Prediction: What happens if CSK vs GT is washed out due to rain? The anticipation for the Tata IPL 2023 Final between CSK and GT is growing amongst the fans and experts as we are hours ahead of the summit clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will lock horns against Gujarat Titans (GT) on May 28th to get the champions of the 16th edition of the IPL.
The two sides would be preparing hard and strategising to tackle the possible challenges against each other, however, there is one more concern that the two sides will have to have a close watch on. The weather forecast on the day of the IPL 2023 Final isn't encouraging.
As per Accuweather, rain showers are expected during the time of the CSK vs GT game on Sunday evening. Down Below is the IPL 2023 Final CSK vs GT Weather Forecast, Rain Prediction.
IPL 2023 Final CSK vs GT Weather Forecast, Rain Prediction
While the afternoon looks fairly clear, the evening clouds may cause some trouble with as high as 80 per cent chances of rain. Furthermore, in the evening, the reports say, a total of 2 hours of scattered rain could take place to play spoilsport in the IPL 2023 Final. Winds are expected to gust at 50kmph while it rains in Ahmedabad.
Notably, the rain had played its part during Qualifier 2 between GT and MI as well. The rain caused a delay of half an hour and the game started at 8 PM IST instead of 7:30 PM. However, fortunately, no further damages were caused by rain following the initial delay and the game between GT and MI progressed smoothly, a couple of nights ago.
What happens if CSK vs GT is washed out due to rain?
After looking at that weather forecast, many would have that curiosity to know what would happen if the CSK vs GT game is washed out due to rain. For all those, if the IPL 2023 Final is completely washed out on 28th May, a reserve day is put in place on 29th May to produce the summit clash between CSK and GT.
The umpires can wait till 12:26 AM IST for a five-over-per-side match between CSK and GT in case rain plays spoilsport on Sunday. A 5-over game is required in the IPL 2023 Final to get the winner of the competition.
However, if the match starts on Sunday, but couldn't be completed due to inevitable reasons, the game will resume on the next day i.e., on Monday (29th May) from where it was left on Sunday. Furthermore, if the toss happens on Sunday, but no play was possible, a fresh toss will be held on the reserve day and the game will then proceed to give us the IPL 2023 Champion. In this case, teams will have the liberty to revise their playing11.
Even on the reserve day, if a full-length game of 40 overs is not possible, the umpires will look for a shortened game. In case at least a 5-over game per side is also not possible on the reserve day, a Super Over will be held to decide the winner of the IPL 2023 Final. The cut-off time for which is 1:20 AM.
If rain hampers the IPL 2023 Final proceedings between CSK and GT and no play was possible on both days (28th and 29th May), the BCCI would then crown Gujarat Titans (GT) as the champions of the Tata IPL 2023 due to their superior position in the IPL 2023 Points Table during league stages.
