IPL 2023: MS Dhoni injured ahead of IPL 2023 Opening game against Gujarat Titans? GT vs CSK: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has suffered a massive blow ahead of the IPL 2023 opener against Gujarat Titans (GT). The yellow IPL franchise has been caught off-guard as their captain MS Dhoni has developed a niggle in his left knee, owing to which his participation in the GT vs CSK match is uncertain.
The IPL 2023 opening clash between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is scheduled to be held on 31st March 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The said contest will begin at 7:30 PM IST.
As per the reports and speculations, Dhoni has suffered a niggle on his left knee. Moreover, the CSK captain was also seen missing in the team's practice session on Thursday.
If the speculations and rumours come true then CSK will be in deep trouble as they don't have any specialist wicketkeepers in the ranks. New Zealand batter Devon Conway and former India batter Ambati Rayudu are capable of standing behind the stumps, however, they aren't specialists.
In case MS Dhoni gets ruled out of the game, then Devon Conway will perform the wicketkeeping roles in the team.
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Vishwanathan has denied all the rumours and reports saying MS Dhoni will play the first game of the IPL 2023 against Gujarat Titans (GT).
"As far as I am concerned, the skipper is 100 per cent playing. I don't know about any other development," said CSK CEO.
Mukesh Chaudhary ruled out of IPL 2023
In one of the earlier blows CSK suffered, young pacer Mukesh Chaudhary was ruled out of the IPL 2023 due to a back injury. The development was confirmed a night before CSK's first match against GT in Ahmedabad.
India's U19 player Akash Singh will replace Mukesh Chaudhary in the CSK Squad for IPL 2023. The young pacer had a brilliant performance in the 2020 U19 World Cup where he ended up scalping seven wickets from six games.
