IPL 2024: The Punjab Kings started their IPL 2024 campaign on a good note as they defeated Northern rivals, the Delhi Capitals, in their first match of IPL 2024 at Mullanpur?s Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium. The Delhi Capitals played some really good cricket, especially in the end overs but the outstanding performance of the PBKS battling unit turned the game in the favor of the hosts. A victory against the Delhi Capitals means that the Punjab Kings are now at the second position in the overall standings of IPL 2024 with two points, whereas the Capitals are at number three with zero points.
The Shikhar Dhawan-led team, riding on the back of Sam Curran?s knock of 63 runs in 47 balls and Liam Livingstone?s inning of 38 runs in 21 balls, chased down the target of 175 runs with ease despite losing some wickets in the middle overs. Captain Shikhar Dhawan played a pretty aggressive knock of 22 runs in 16 deliveries and got the King's off to a good start. Seamer Arshdeep Singh took two scalps and gave away just 28 runs but if the other PBKS bowlers provided some better support to Arshdeep from the other end, then the Delhi Capitals could have been restricted at a lower score.
