IPL 2024 Points Table: The Tata IPL 2024 has begun and CSK, more or less, following the same norms under their new captain is off to a winning start. Ruturaj Gaikwad-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) put up a show against RCB at the MA Chidambaram Stadium to win the tournament opener by six wickets. The Yellow Army subsequently opened its account in the IPL 2024 Points Table, the details of which are given below.

CSK vs RCB Match Highlights

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had a decent opening at MA Chidambaram Stadium, last night. The RCB skipper won the flip of the coin and then put up some quick runs for his side in the powerplay. However, little did he know that his wicket would expose the entire RCB batting unit against CSK.

Mustafizur Rahman provided the initial breakthrough for CSK, dismissing Faf du Plessis (35 runs) at the team’s score of 41 runs. The Bangladeshi pacer added another wicket to his tally in the same over after he got rid of Rajat Patidhar for a duck.

Maxwell, too, was removed for a duck by Deepak Chahar as RCB were suddenly reduced to 42/3 in the powerplay. Virat Kohli and Cameron Green tried to bring things back on track, but, both of them were dismissed by Mustafizur Rahman.

RCB found themselves in strife in the 12th over with a score of 78 runs. However, things took a turn as Anuj Rawat and Dinesh Karthik joined the forces. The two RCB batters played on merit and took RCB to a competitive total towards the end. While Rawat added 25-ball 48, Dinesh Karthik remained unbeaten at 26-ball 38.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) eventually managed to score 173 runs in 20 overs after losing six wickets.

This score looked comfortable for CSK as the pitch had become better to bat. The two CSK openers – Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra – added 38 runs for the opening wicket.

Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed by Yash Dayal, who was the impact substitute for RCB. Following the wicket, Rachin Ravindra joined hands with Ajinkya Rahane and took the innings forward.

As soon as the two batters looked settled, Rachin (15-ball 37) holed out in the deep after having a ball of a debut in Chennai. Soon Ajinkya Rahane and Daryl Mitchell were also dismissed by RCB and CSK was reduced to 110/4 in 12.3 overs.

Impact substitute Shivam Dube and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja kept things under control with their sensible play towards the end of the innings. The two ensured that CSK scored the winning runs before any more wickets fell.
