IPL 2024 RCB vs PBKS:?Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Punjab Kings by 4 wickets and registered their first victory of the season. RCB was playing this match at their home ground (M. Chinnaswamy Stadium) and showed excellent cricket against PBKS. The Player of the Match was Virat Kohli, who played a superb inning of 77 runs in 49 balls and led RCB to the victory.
RCB played fantastically in the match against PBKS however, Virat Kohli single-handedly led his team to the first win of TATA IPL 2024. It was an interesting game between RCB and PBKS but Bengaluru easily won the match as they played good cricket with both bat and ball.
Punjab Kings fought well but they made low totals which gave RCB an upper hand over PBKS throughout the match. However, While RCB was chasing the target Punjab quite started getting into the game as they got a couple of wickets but they failed to get the wicket of Virat Kohli, who easily led RCB to victory.
IPL 2024 RCB vs PBKS Match Highlights:
Punjab Kings batted first and they had a decent start as Punjab was able to score only 40 runs in the first six overs of the game on the batting-friendly wicket of M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, Punjab Kings Skipper Shikhar Dhawan was playing aggressive cricket but didn?t get support from the other end and got out by scoring 45 runs in 37 balls.
In the middle overs, RCB bowlers dominated the game especially Yash Dayal and Mayank Dagar. Therefore, Punjab Kings lost a couple of wickets in the middle overs and players like Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone scored 23 and 17 runs, respectively.
However, Youngsters Jitesh Sharma and Shashank Singh played a crucial and impressive knock of 27 and 21 runs for Punjab Kings in the death overs. Both these players led PBKS to have a defendable total of 176 runs on the batting heaven wicket of M Chinnaswamy.
From Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) bowling department, Mohd. Siraj and Glenn Maxwell took two wickets each whereas Yash Dayal and Alzarri Joseph took one wicket each in the match against PBKS.
In the second inning, while chasing the target RCB started quite aggressive, especially with Virat Kohli as they made 50 runs in the first six overs with the loss of two wickets. However, Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar made a small partnership of 43 runs for the third wicket. Punjab Kings bowlers kept taking wickets from one end whereas Virat kept scoring runs through boundaries.
Virat Kohli played an exceptional inning of 77 runs in 49 balls at a strike rate of 157.14 with 2 sixes and 11 fours. It was a good victory by Royal Challengers Bengaluru on their home ground and it is expected that they will carry on the same momentum. From the PBKS bowling department, Kagiso Rabada and Harpreet Brar took two wickets each.
