The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Thursday, February 22, 2024, the schedule for the TATA IPL 2024 for the first 21 matches. The 17th season of the world?s biggest T20 League is all set to kick off on March 22, 2024, as Defending Champions Chennai Super Kings will take on Faf Du Plessis led Royal Challengers Bangalore at CSK?s home ground, Chepauk.
The announcement of IPL 2024?s schedule was made on Star Sports and the OTT platform Jio Cinema. Due to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in India, the dates of which have not been disclosed, the BCCI chose to reveal the schedule of the IPL in phases.
Even though the upcoming Lok Sabha elections are going to take place this year, the matches of the 17th season of the Indian Premier League will be held in India. In the past, the matches of the IPL have been shifted to the UAE and South Africa due to the elections.
The upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup is scheduled to start in June in the West Indies and the USA. The IPL will serve as an important preparation ground for the players to make themselves ready for this year?s mega cricket event.
