The chatter around the IPL has already picked its pace and in the coming days, it is only meant to get bigger and bigger. For close to two months, the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) will cater for the massive audience, providing them with exciting contests between the 10 IPL franchises and complementary gossip as well.
The Tata IPL 2024 is scheduled to commence on March 22 in Chennai. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be up against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the opening fixture of the tournament at the Chepauk Stadium.
Just like any other season of the IPL, the tournament brings in a string of new elements with it. In each new season over the years, we have seen a rise of a new star, or multiple stars, who have lit up the tournament with their skills and abilities.
As they say, it's hard to time a market. Similarly, the IPL is equally hard and unexpected to be timed. However, just like any other season, we do put our predictions as to which players will be in the limelight during the season.
With a massive sum of money getting splurged during the IPL auctions and a hell lot of effort being made in scouting players, the expectations and anticipations are bound to come. Here in this article, we will lead you through the Top Players to Watch in Tata IPL 2024.
Top Players to Watch in Tata IPL 2024
Below is the list of a few players who will be in the limelight throughout the Tata IPL 2024 for a number of reasons.
Rishabh Pant - Delhi Capitals
Delhi Capitals (DC) suffered a setback ahead of the IPL 2023 when their skipper Rishabh Pant was badly injured in a car accident. Pant was subsequently ruled out of the IPL 2023 season. However, the batter has been cleared to participate in the upcoming season of the IPL.
The NCA, recently, in its report deemed Rishabh Pant fully fit to play in the Tata IPL 2024. Though Pant is expected to play as a pure batter, his presence will boost the morale of the side as they search for their maiden IPL trophy.
Pat Cummins - Sunrisers Hyderabad
Australian pacer Pat Cummins was expected to get a whopping sum during the IPL 2024 auction, however, no one anticipated him to break the banks of the franchises. Cummins went for a record INR 20.50 Crores to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) during the recently held auctions and became one of the costliest players in the history of the Indian Premier League.
Recently, he has been appointed as the leader of the side, replacing Aiden Markram, which has been widely tagged as a strategic move. With so much money getting splurged, along with the additional responsibility, Cummins will be expected to have a remarkable IPL season in 2024.
There will be a lot of pressure to perform, it will be interesting to see how the Australian pacer turns up for his side in Tata IPL 2024.
Mitchell Starc - Kolkata Knight Riders
While for a few moments, it was Pat Cummins, who became the costliest player in the history of the IPL during the auctions, another Australian pacer Mitchell Starc went a step ahead and put teams on the verge of losing all their sum in just a single player. Starc surpassed Cummins and became the costliest player with a record-breaking deal of INR 24.75 Crores from Shahrukh Khan's Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Though, for years, Starc has sidelined his presence in the IPL to prioritise his country, now he is all set to return to the illustrious IPL 2024. This time the seasoned pacer will be donning KKR's purple colours.
With a lot of money involved and, obviously his skill set to turn the game on its head, Mitchell Starc will carry the huge burden on his shoulders. He will be the onus to lead the team's pace attack throughout the IPL 2024 season.
Sameer Rizvi - Chennai Super Kings
Having got a deal of INR 8.40 Crores from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during the IPL 2024 auction, Uttar Pradesh's Sameer Rizvi became the costliest uncapped player during the 2024 auctions.
The batter came into the limelight with his blitz outing during the UP T20 league where he struck the most number of sixes for his team Kanpur Superstars. Along with a six-hitting spree, Rizvi also amassed 455 runs for his side, which included two centuries.
His exploits in the UP T20 league have landed him a lucrative deal in the IPL 2024 with CSK. It will be interesting to see how the batter performs under MS Dhoni's guidance in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.
